The Premiers Reading Challenge (http://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc) is a NSW government initiative and its aim is to encourage students to read. We support the PRC challenge in our Year 7 Library classes. All the books in the PRC collection are labelled and easy to locate.
The Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) runs from March to September, encouraging Year 7 students to read a set number of books from an exciting list of genres and authors.
In library classes, we help students find books they’ll enjoy, track their reading, and share their favourite stories. Activities like book talks and displays make the challenge fun and engaging.
The PRC isn’t just about finishing books—it’s about exploring new ideas, connecting with classmates, and building confidence as a reader. By September, students celebrate their achievements and discover how enjoyable reading can be.
The library also supports Scholastic Book club. Students can collect order forms and order books on-line via the Scholastic Website.
