Dear students, parents and carers, and MAHS community, Welcome to 2023. We hope you have had a wonderful Christmas break and enjoyed the welcoming in of the 2023 year. School returns in a little under two weeks and we are all looking forward to seeing all our students return to school. It has been great to see some of you over the break enjoying your friendships and families with a lot of you growing a little taller and building confidence in who you are. We all look forward to fostering this growth further over this new year. Now, as a reminder, school returns for students as follows: • Tuesday 31st January for Years 7, 11 and 12. The Year 10 Peer Support Students will also be attending on this day to support our year 7 students traverse through their first day of high school. • Wednesday 1st February for the balance of year groups, being Years 8, 9 and 10. Gates will open on Tuesday 31st January at 8:30am for this day only, and then every other day will be 8:15am. Students will need to be in full school uniform, including black leather shoes, which can be purchased through Lowes or our school Uniform Store. Our school Uniform Store will be opened on Tuesday 24th January from 9:30am to 4:00pm to facilitate the purchasing of both junior and senior uniforms as well as selling our school bookpacks. All students, except Year 7, will be able to access their timetable online from Friday 27th January. There have been some updates from when timetables were accessed in December 2022, so students should check again. All students will receive a hard copy of their timetable upon their return. If you are unsure of what to bring on the day, in particular Year 7, please pack one notebook and pens and pencils to support work completed. For student knowledge, we are starting on a Week A. On the first day for Year 7, parents and students are invited to the hall for a 'Welcome' session commencing at 9am, which will include a parent presentation from Senior Constable Greg Louden around 'Social Media and Mobile Phone Use'. We ask that Year 7 students and parents arrive between 8:30am and 8:50am to ensure we are ready to promptly start at 9am. Some important dates to be aware of include our School Photo Day on Monday 6th February and the school's Swimming Carnival on Monday 13th February. Notes and information will come out fairly quickly, so if you miss any details, please make sure you see your Year Advisors or the lovely ladies in the Student Office for information. Lastly, there has been a lot of works around the school during the break and we thank the many persons that have been involved. Students will find undercover areas to support their learning and waiting areas to be out of the elements. We look forward to our students enjoying these new areas, with many more things to come this year. Enjoy the last few weeks and remember, be amazing, do good things and put your rubbish in the bin. Ms Cavaleri Deputy Principal
