Weekly Events - Week 3A

Dear students, parents and carers and our wonderful MAHS community,

Welcome back to Term 3 commencing Monday 4th August. This week is Public Education Week with the theme ‘Ignite Your Potential’.  With this theme, we proudly celebrate our dedicated teachers, school staff, families, and communities who work together to create safe, inclusive spaces where all children can learn, grow, thrive and be given the tools to ignite their potential.

This week is shaping up to be a very busy and exciting one at school, with a number of activities taking place. I’d like to extend a big thank you in advance to all the staff involved for their hard work in preparation for all the school activities occurring this week. On Wednesday evening, we look forward to welcoming families and staff to our HSC Showcase from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the talents of our senior students, who will be presenting their major works in Society and Culture, Visual Design, and Timber, as well as HSC Music and Drama performances. We’re incredibly proud of the dedication and creativity they’ve shown, and we thank the staff who have supported them throughout their journey.

We’re also very pleased to welcome our visiting Japanese students, who will be joining us this week and participating in classes alongside their MAHS student buddies. We know our school community will make them feel right at home.

We have a number of incursions, excursions and student programs occurring this week. These include the Year 12 PIP Submission Day on Monday, the Western Sydney Airport excursion and CHS State Proud Shield Opens Baseball round on Tuesday, and the second rehearsal for the Vocal Ensemble Concert on Wednesday. On Friday, our Year 9/10 Support Unit students will continue their Community Access Program, and Year 7/8 Support Unit students will take part in their weekly Bowling Sport activity. In addition, selected students will continue their participation in a range of fantastic programs, including the NRL Schools Program, the In League In Harmony Program, and the Wests Tigers Empower Program.

We also welcome our new Deputy Principal Inclusion and Support, Mr Michael Shephard, to our Mount Annan High School family from Monday, and we also say a big thank you to Ms Alana Coluccio for sitting in this role and supporting us all over the last 7 weeks.  Mr Michael Shephard will be looking after Year 9 and the Support Unit students.

We look forward to another fun and engaging week of learning for all our students.

Wishing you all a wonderful week!

Mrs Johnson
