Weekly Events - Week 3A

Dear students, parents and carers, and MAHS community,

Welcome to Week 3A commencing Monday 28th October. This week we are continuing our focus on arriving to school on time for roll call.  Students should be at school by 8.40am so they are ready to move and be in their roll call room by 8.50am.  Students who are continually late will be spoken to by the school to support improvement.

As a reminder from our Principal Mr Bates on Thursday 24th October, “On Monday 28 October, the NSW Teachers Federation will be holding a special meeting for members to vote on a recommendation relating to a new Teachers Award. As a result of the meeting, we will have minimal supervision arrangements in place until 10am.  While there will be a minor disruption to the beginning of the school day, student attendance is expected as onsite teaching and learning will continue with modified supervision arrangements until 10am.  Roll call will be undertaken at 10am in our period two classes.  Thank you for your understanding and support.”

From this, we can also confirm from questions from community that students can still arrive at school at normal time, normally from 8.30am.  It is from 8.30am to 10.00am that students will be supervised, until officially commencing normal classes from 10.00am.  This meeting has no impact on our HSC Examinations as they are being supervised by external persons employed by NESA and not by teachers in school.  We will still be running breakfast club from 8.15am on Monday morning for students, and I do thank the staff doing this to support our students.

This week we also have Year 8 Science Valid testing occurring.  Updates of new times have been provided to students.  We also have the continuation of our Peer Tutor Reading Program at Currans Hill Public School on Tuesday and on Friday our Support Unit Community Access programs.  We also have all our clubs back this week, as well as Fit For Life Fitness Club on Thursday from 7.40am in the hall.  Students should be accessing homework club as much as possible to support the completion of many assessments that are occurring at the moment.

Lastly, this Thursday, 31st October, is Halloween.  Students can wear a splash of orange and/or an appropriate accessory.  No masks are permitted, and full school uniform must still be worn.

Wishing everyone a fantastic week, and be amazing, do good things, and put your rubbish in the bin.

Deputy Principal
